Inquiry? Do you really want to know the truth? Good! Ask and wait. All will be granted.
~ Byron Katie

Meantime within man is the soul of the whole; the wise silence; the universal beauty, to which every part and particle is equally related; the eternal ONE. And this deep power in which we exist, and whose beatitude is all accessible to us, is not only self-sufficing and perfect in every hour, but the act of seeing and the thing seen, the seer and the spectacle, the subject and the object, are one.
~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

The sun is simply bright. It does not correct anyone.
Because it shines, the whole world is full of light.

~ Sri Ramana Maharshi

If you could get rid of yourself just once, the secret of secrets would open to you.
The face of the unknown, hidden beyond the universe would appear on the mirror of your perception.

~ Rumi

We can forget our adult selves. Just simply forget them. They’re not good for anything, not anything real, just this playing of this serious game where we dress up like big people and try to sound like we know what’s going on. We don’t know what’s going on, none of us do. Just rest here as cluelessness.
~ Jeannie Zandi

Realise enlightenment is impossible. If you could be unenlightened one moment, and enlightened the next, then enlightenment would be bound by time, would be given substance by its opposite, would be dual, would be some ‘thing’ to be attained. You do not need to be something more. Forget the need and hope. Awake is what you are, not what you become. Be willing to notice. Look at the stars, the wind, the romp of birds through the sky. Be willing to be free. Forget the sutras, the wise sayings, the path, the seriousness, the pain, the wars, the relationships, the imagined problems. Forget your objections. Hush for a moment; gently, with arms wide and open, notice the absence of anything but Life.
Be. Realize that only the ego wants to awaken. And be done with it.

~ anonymous

Awakening is not the adding of an experience but the loss of belief in the one who is imagined to lack it. Nothing really happens. The mirage was never water to begin with. Enlightenment stories are just more stories. It is delusional to think presence is dependent on something that happened in the past or will happen in the future. You are present here and now else nothing would appear, including the idea that you are a person who lacks presence.
~ Morgan Caraway

Self is the indweller of all Beings, so love of others is Love of Self, your Self.
Self is the greatest Love and the dearest of all lovers.
Love is the attraction of Self to Self in Self.
There is nothing besides this Love, this source of Joy.
See your own beauty and you are this Indweller, this Love and the beauty itself.
~ Papaji

If you bring forth what is within you, what you bring forth will save you. If you do not bring forth what is within you, what you do not bring forth will destroy you.
~ Jesus in the Gospel of Thomas

No matter what happens in a movie, the movie screen is not affected. When the main character ages, the screen doesn't age. When time passes on the screen, time never passes for the screen. When the main character dies, the screen remains, and is not diminished. Even when the movie ends, the screen does not end, it just remains open for the next movie - a comedy, a horror, a romance, a silent movie from 1912, a 3D blockbuster from 2012 - whatever it will be. The screen accepts it all - movie or no movie at all. The screen never fights the movie, nor does it cling to it. It has no name, no age, no identity of its own, but allows all those wonderful identities to parade themselves about, asking nothing in return. It is rarely appreciated, often ignored, but absolutely essential for the relative dance of life. The screen is pure love. It is what you are.
Now, who wants to see a movie?
~ Jeff Foster

So the single most vital step on your journey toward enlightenment is this: learn to disidentify from your mind.
~ Eckhart Tolle

Usually, when we hear or read something new, we just compare it to our own ideas.
If it is the same, we accept it and say that it is correct. If it is not, we say it is incorrect.
In either case, we learn nothing.
~ Thich Nhat Hanh

There is nothing better
That you can give to a person
Than to be present with them.
When you are fully present
You become love
And you share that becoming with others.
~ Kuan Yin

Just as a parent may say to their child, "I may not always like what you do, or agree with you, or approve of your actions, but please know that I'll always be here for you, and I will not turn away...", so who we really are, the vast open space of awareness itself, totally intimate with all of its children, its own thoughts, sensations and feelings, is ever-present, inherently non-judgemental, and would never push anything away, for it IS everything as it arises. It allows and holds all of its children unconditionally, even pain, even fear, even sadness, even doubt, deeply allowing these beloved expressions of itself to arise and fall away in their own sweet time. It would not abandon its children, for it cannot abandon itself. This is the true meaning of love, beyond all our limited human conceptions of love. It is a vast, unspeakable love, so huge that we've had to invent other words like 'awareness' just to stop our hearts from breaking.
~ Jeff Foster

Mental suffering denotes that you are digging in the graveyard of the past. Without touching the past, tell me who is unhappy? If you are living in the present, you are happy.
~ Papaji

God dwells in you, as you, and you don't have to 'do' anything to be God-realized or Self-realized, it is already your true and natural state." Just drop all seeking, turn your attention inward, and sacrifice your mind to the One Self radiating in the Heart of your very being.
~ Ramana Maharshi

Once you realize that the road is the goal and that you are always on the road, not to reach a goal, but to enjoy its beauty and its wisdom, life ceases to be a task and becomes natural and simple in itself an ecstasy.
~ Nisargadatta Maharaj

All religions, arts and sciences are branches of the same tree. All these aspirations are directed toward ennobling man's life, lifting it from the sphere of mere physical existence and leading the individual towards freedom.
~ Albert Einstein

We assume we will awaken to something else, something bigger and more grand. But really it is awakening to yourself, to what is here, has always been here. That is the startling, refreshing, wonderful, good news.
~ Gangaji

The body is actually more intelligent than the mind. With thoughts we imagine the future, and with feelings we remember the past. Only the body is rooted in present experience. The body always calls attention back to what is really happening here. As the body becomes very present to the subtlety of its experience, the sights, the sounds, its own breath, and the boundaries of self become more transparent. The self loses its definition, its competitiveness, to make the world be anything but what it is.
~ Enza Vita

This is what is asked of us, over and over and over, to offer our empty hands. To let the things we are holding so tight just drop. To give it all up, everything, that does not exist in this moment here. All that has happened, that we think we somehow need to do sometning about, all that we think might happen, or we hope will happen, every sweet dream that we cling to. This is like God’s loving strip search, give it all over! Something else wants to live you. And you can feel it.
~ Jeannie Zandi

"All the world's a stage, and all the men and women merely players"
"There is nothing either good or bad but thinking makes it so"
"Life is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing"
"I say there is no darkness but ignorance"
"To thine own Self be true and it must follow as the night the day, thou canst not then be false to any man"
"There are more things in heaven and earth than are dreamt of in your philosophy"
"Life's but a walking shadow, a poor player that struts and frets his hour upon a stage"
~ Shakespeare

Life is a dance. We are dancing...we are being danced...we twirl and spin and leap and exalt in the sheer joy of this dance. There are no wallflowers here. It is all dance floor. It matters not if we have a partner dancing opposite us. We are joined in the dance by all the other dancers. We are all in this ballroom together, bound by the music and compelled to move to its rhythm.
No it is not always graceful. We bump into each other, trip over feet...others and our own. Sometimes we fall.
Funny thing about this dance of ours...the harder we try the more clumsy we become. Our grace is in the letting go. When we surrender to the music it is free to move through us unrestricted. Our bodies and minds sway freely, smooth and effortless. It is ecstasy, in its purest, simplest and most mundane form.
We are blessed indeed to hear the divine choruses, even though
those who hear not the music, think we dancers are mad!
May your dance be joyous and effortless!
~ Wayne Liquorman

My place is the Placeless,
my trace is the Traceless;
And it is neither body nor soul,
for I belong to the soul of the Beloved.
I have put duality away,
I have seen that the two worlds are one;
One I seek, One I know,
One I see, One I call.
~ Rumi

There is no I . . . . responsibility is taken care of by Brahman, and I am that.
~ Jac O'Keeffe

Do not struggle.
Go with the flow of things,
And you will find yourself at one with
The mysterious unity of the Universe.
~ Chuang Tzu

Beyond ambition,
beyond attainment,
is home.
without content;
~ A. H. Almaas

When you are in the world of the thinking mind, you are somewhere in the remembered past or the imagined future. You are in a world of thought, memory, concept, idea, opinion and belief. You are not here now. What you are experiencing is not of the present moment. It is not real. You are in a world of illusion (Maya) and yet you have come to believe that it real. Almost the entire human population is lost in this illusion. It is the sole source of our suffering.
~ Leonard Jacobson

The final truth, as Ramana Maharshi and Nisargadatta Maharaj and all the sages before them have clearly stated, is that there is neither creation nor destruction, neither birth nor death, neither destiny nor free will, neither any path nor any achievement. All there is is Consciousness.
~ Ramesh Balsekar

Nothing to do,
Nothing to force,
nothing to want -
and everything happens by itself.
~ Lama Gendun Rinpoche

Knowing that we are looking for something we already have and are does not, of course, mean that the journey is unnecessary, only that there is a vast and sublime joke waiting to be discovered at its end.
~ Andrew Harvey

Awakening comes unexpectedly when you do not wait for it, when you live in not-knowing. Only then are you available.
~ Jean Klein

There is a place in all of us that has remained innocent, uncorrupted and untouched by the world. We have to locate that most delicate place.
It is a very sensitive place, it's where we feel love - where tenderness and compassion arise, free from self-interest.
This place is the hole we have to fall into - and disappear in forever.
~ Andrew Cohen

You are the unchangeable Awareness in which all activity takes place.
Always rest in peace.
You are eternal Being, unbounded and undivided.
Just keep Quiet.
All is well.
Keep Quiet Here and Now.
You are Happiness, you are Peace, you are Freedom.
Do not entertain any notions that you are in trouble.
Be kind to yourself.
Open to your Heart and simply Be.
~ Papaji

When you know yourself, your "I-ness" vanishes
and you know that you and God are one and the same.
~ Ibn 'Arabi

While the concept of oneness may be intellectually appealing, it is nevertheless difficult to put into practice. It's no hardship to feel oneness with great and noble beings or those we already love. It's also not too much of a stretch to experience a sense of unity with the trees, the ocean, and the sky. But most of us balk at experiencing oneness with the cockroach or the rat-let alone the obnoxious co-worker whom we barely tolerate.
Yet this is precisely where we need to apply Vedanta's teachings and realize that all these manifold aspects of creation are united in and through divinity. The Self that is within me, the Atman, is the same Self that is within you-no matter whether the "you" in question is a saint, a murderer, a cat, a fly, a tree, or that irritating driver at the four-way stop.

When you look into a mirror you see your face as it is; you may wish that some parts of it were different, but the actual fact is shown in the mirror. Now, can you look at your conditioning in a similar way?
~ J. Krishnamurti

Humanity is now faced with a choice: Evolve or die ... If the structures of the human mind remain unchanged, we will always end up re-creating the same world, the same evils, the same dysfunction.
~ Eckhart Tolle

I used to think that to become free you had to practice like a samurai warrior, but now I understand that you have to practice like a devoted mother of a newborn child. It takes the same energy but has a completely different quality. It's compassion and presence rather than having to defeat the enemy in battle.
~ Jack Kornfield

The natural state is acausal: it just happens.
~ U. G. Krishnamurti

God is who you are before you label yourself.
~ Deepak Chopra

There is only one decision we need to make; either you are working at your Freedom or you are accepting your Bondage.
~ Robert Adams

Throw everything away, forget about it all!  You are learning too much, remembering too much, trying to hard. . . relax a little bit, give life a chance to flow its own way, unassisted by your mind and effort. Stop directing the river’s flow!
~ Mooji

You’re just suffering from the belief that there’s something missing from your life.
~ Byron Katie

In suffering, I am something
In understanding, I am nothing
In Love, I am everything
~ Rupert Spira

What a liberation to realize that the voice in my head is not who I am. Who am I then? The one who sees that.
~ Eckhart Tolle

The very desire to seek spiritual enlightenment is in fact nothing but the grasping tendency of the ego itself, and thus the very search for enlightenment prevents it. The "perfect practice" is therefore not to search for enlightenment, but to inquire into the motive for seeking itself. You obviously seek in oder to avoid the present, and yet the present alone holds the answer: to seek forever is to miss the point forever. You always already are enlightened Spirit, and therefore to seek Spirit is simply to deny Spirit. You can no more attain Spirit than you can attain your feet or acquire your lungs.
~ Ken Wilber

Why are you unhappy?
Because 99.9% of everything you think, and
Of everything you do,
Is for yourself--
And there isn't one.
~ Wei Wu Wei

Events happen deeds are done but there is no doer thereof.
~ Buddha

Don’t try to use what you learn from Buddhism to be a Buddhist; use it to be a better whatever-you-already-are.
~ His Holiness the Dalai Lama

Satsang is a tongueless teacher and headless students.  So shut your head, let your Heart open, and Truth will reveal itself to you in Silence. Only pay attention to That with your open Heart.
~ Papaji

Try to remember the main points: Birth and death are like going to sleep at night and waking up in the morning. When you go to sleep at night, you die, when you dream it's like being on an astral plane, and when you wake up in the morning, it's like being born. Through those states of consciousness somebody exists, and that somebody is none other than you. In other words you are aware of dreaming. You are aware of sleeping. You are aware of waking up. You are aware of dying, and you are aware of being reborn. Somebody is watching all this, that's you. You exist through all those states. Abide in your existence, not in the states. Ignore the fake consciousness. Abide in the reality, which is called absolute awareness, consciousness. Abide in that and be free.
~ Robert Adams

The best place for you is wherever you find yourself. And you will know this if you take out intention out of your mind. If you remove or leave aside any intention or any projection or any speculation out of your mind, you will find full contentment where you are. Full contentment, and you will be happy. You will be at Peace.
~ Mooji

When you awake, you cross a line of no return, and you never see the world in the same way.
You are still dreaming, because you can not avoid dreaming, because dreaming is the function of the mind, but the difference is that you know It is a Dream.
Knowing that, you can enjoy the dream or suffer the dream.
That depends on you.
~ Don Miguel Ruiz

In dream you love some and not others. On waking up you find you are love itself, embracing all....When you are love itself, you are beyond time and numbers. In loving one you love all, in loving all, you love each. One and all are not exclusive.
~ Nisargadatta

Just Relax.
Stop trying to change anything, and recognize what is already here.
There may be changes, or there may be no changes,
but that is secondary to what is always here.
~ Gangaji

The love that you search for everywhere is already present within you.
It may be evoked by any number of people or events.
But finally, you must realize you are this love.
The source of all love is within you.
~ Gangaji

To seek people’s love and approval assumes that you aren’t whole.
~ Byron Katie

When you realize your integral connection with the Absolute, you will realize in every sand particle, in every dust particle, everywhere is God himself. That is meditation. You need not close your eyes and sit in the meditation hall. The moment you are aware of this, you are in a state of meditation. That is the way to be happy. Otherwise you are happy inside the meditation hall and unhappy outside.
~ Swami Krishnananda

If there is a personal 'i' wanting to feel or experience true being then this is just desire and can be dropped. The personal 'i' is blocking the seeing of what you are; it is the obstacle and can never 'experience' truth. Let there be an acceptance of this point and the related desire will fall away.
~ Jac O’Keeffe

Consider that the desire to be other than you are, to feel differently about yourself or your life, is only a thought distracting you from what is in perfect order, silent and peaceful at a deeper level within you.
~ Jac O’Keeffe

The potential of being human is to discover that state within oneself which is beyond effort, which cannot be maintained or sustained. No effort is required for being.
Once that realization has occurred, one sees that oneself is not the moving part, not emotion, not time, not space, not body, not relationship, not contact, not separation, not mind, not senses, not anything that belongs to the interrelated play of opposites.
Knowing I am not that, leaving all that to dance; not striving to control what is by nature restless and moving, but realizing oneself as that unmoving being, then one is free. That alone is freedom. Freedom beyond the concept of freedom. Not someone being free; free of somebody-ness.
~ Mooji

Nobody ever fails in Yoga. It is all a matter of the rate of progress. It is slow in the beginning and rapid in the end. When one is fully matured, realisation is explosive. It takes place spontaneously, or at the slightest hint. The quick is not better than the slow. Slow ripening and rapid flowering alternate. Both are natural and right.
~ Nisargadatta Maharaj

If you are depressed you are living in the past. If you are anxious you are living in the future. If you are at peace you are living in the present.
~ Lao Tzu

Here's some very good news.
Right here, right now, in this moment, you don't have to 'figure out' the rest of your life, no matter what anyone says.
In this moment, you don't need all the answers. They will come, in time, or not, or perhaps the unncecessary questions will fall away.
There is no rush. Life is not in a hurry. Be like the seasons. Winter is not trying to become summer. Spring does not rush towards autumn. The grass grows at its own pace.
The choices that will be made will be made, and you've no choice about that. The decisions that will happen will happen, events will unfold, but right now perhaps you don't need to know the solutions or the outcomes or how best to proceed. Perhaps not knowing is a welcome guest at life's banquet. Perhaps openness to possibility is a beloved friend. Perhaps even confusion can come to rest here.
And so, instead of trying to 'fix' our lives, instead of trying to neatly resolve the unresolveable and quickly complete the epic story of a fictitious 'me', we simply relax into utter not knowing, unravelling in the warm embrace of mystery, sinking deeply into the moment, savouring it fully, in all its uniqueness and wonder.
And then, perhaps without any effort, without any struggle or stress, without 'you' being involved at all, the true answers will emerge in their own sweet time.
~ Jeff Foster

Only breath.
Not Christian or Jew, or Muslim.
Not Hindu Buddhist, Hindu, Sufi of Zen.
Not any religion of cultural system
I'm nor from the east or the west.
Not out of the ocean, or up from the ground.
Not natural or ethereal.
Not composed of elements at all.
I do not exist.
Am not an entity, in the world, or the next.
Did not descend from Adam and Eve, or any origin story.
My place is the placeless,
the trace of the traceless,
neither body nor soul.
I belong to the beloved,
have seen the two worlds as one.
And that one called two, and know,
first, last, outer, inner.
Only that breath, breathing, human, being.
~ Rumi,

I'm not awake, I'm not spiritually enlightened, because there's something wrong. If there wasn't something wrong I would be enlightened you see. So this idea, this felt experience, actually is a big part of what ego is you see. Cause if there's nothing wrong, all the self-contradiction just falls away. Which is of course what it does when we awaken to our true nature, and we see from the eyes of spirit rather than from the eyes of mind.
From the eyes of spirit there is nothing wrong. There is nothing wrong with you, with them. This was quite a surprise, there was actually nothing wrong.
~ Adyashanti

Truly there is no cause for you to be miserable and unhappy. You yourself impose limitations on your true nature of infinite being, and then weep that you are but a finite creature. Then you take up this or that spiritual practice to transcend the non-existent limitations. But if your spiritual practice itself assumes the existence of the limitations, how can it help you to transcend them?
Hence I say know that you are really the infinite pure being, the Self. You are always that Self and nothing but that Self. Therefore, you can never be really ignorant of the Self. Your ignorance is merely an imaginary ignorance, like the ignorance of the ten fools about the lost tenth man. It is this ignorance that caused them grief. Know then that true knowledge does not create a new being for you, it only removes your ignorant ignorance. Bliss is not added to your nature, it is merely revealed as your true natural state, eternal and imperishable. The only way to be rid of your grief is to know and be the Self. How can this be unattainable?
~ Ramana Maharshi

To be aware is to be awake. Unaware means asleep. You are aware anyhow, you need not try to be. What you need is to be aware of being aware. Be aware deliberately and consciously, broaden and deepen the field of awareness. You are always conscious of the mind, but you are not aware of yourself as being conscious.
~ Nisargadatta Maharaj

About twenty years ago, a close friend and I drove to southern Virginia to attend a retreat led by Vietnamese Zen teacher Thich Nhat Hanh. At the closing ceremony, he asked us to choose a partner — I turned to face my friend — and bow to each other. He then instructed us to hug our partner while taking three conscious and full in-breaths and out-breaths. With the first breath, he said to reflect: “I’m going to die”; with the second, “You’re going to die”; and with the third, “And we have just these precious moments.” After slowly releasing our embrace, my friend and I looked at each other through our tears. Thich Nhat Hanh had, in a beautiful way, turned us toward the refuge of truth.
~ Tara Brach

You cannot long for something that you do not know exists. It must be already present within you, or how would you know to long for it?
You are what you are looking for; you just need to see that it is already here.
There is only one truth worth pursuing and you are That.
~ Enza Vita

When you shift your identity from your self-image to your true Self, you will find happiness that no one can take away from you.
~ Deepak Chopra

You ask: ‘How to live my life?’ But with the question you are suffocating life itself, for life is spontaneity.
~ Mooji

Once a person is caught by belief in a doctrine, one loses all one's freedom. When one becomes dogmatic, that person believes his or her doctrine is the only truth and that all other doctrines are heresy.
~ Buddha

Disputes and conflicts all arise from narrow views. They can extend endlessly, wasting precious time and sometimes even leading to war. Attachment to views is the greatest impediment to the spiritual path. Bound to narrow views, one becomes so entangled that it is no longer possible to let the door of truth open.
~ Thich Nhat Hanh

Belief is a cover up for insecurity . . . if something is real you don't have to believe in it, you know it.
~ Deepak Chopra

When you realize that the whole universe is a manifestation of your mind you become omnipresence. And in the omnipresence is contained all of your needs, and all of your needs are met from within. But when you start worrying or thinking about it, you spoil it. Then you have to do human things to take care of you. But if you leave the human-hood alone, and go back to the understanding that it's all in your mind, you automatically let go of your mind, and the Self takes over, bringing the right people into your life, the right situation, the right address. Remember again, your body came to this earth because of karma. And it's going to go through whatever is has to go through. But you've got absolutely nothing to do with that because you are not your body. But if you think about it you spoil it. Subsequently, allow your body to do whatever it came here to do. Do not interfere. Do not fight. Simply observe. Do not react. You will be okay.
~ Robert Adams

Doubt underlies every belief. Doubt brings defense. If you don't believe me, challenge the next person who seems to be stating Truth. When you see them defend it, notice the doubt that is coming to the surface. This is when you know it is belief. But the real juice is when you can see this in yourself, isn't it? Until then, everyone else has to do it for you.
~ Scott Kiloby

There was never any more inception than there is now,
Nor any more youth or age than thee is now,
And will never be any more perfection than there is now,
Nor any more heaven or hell than there is now.

~ Walt Whitman

Grant me
the Serenity to accept the People I cannot change,
the Courage to change the One I can,
and the Wisdom to know it’s Me.
~ author unknown

What could be more futile, more insane, than to create inner resistance to something that already is?
~ Eckhart Tolle

Be still. It takes no effort to be still; it is utterly simple. When your mind is still, you have no name, you have no past, you have no relationships, you have no country, you have no spiritual attainment, you have no lack of spiritual attainment. There is just the presence of beingness with itself.
~ Gangaj

This absolute intimacy of pure experiencing is what we call love.
It is the absence of distance, separation or otherness.
There is no room for two there.
Love is the experience of pure non-duality.

~ Rupert Spira

Freedom doesn’t make you immune to the human experience; it just means you are not identified with it anymore. Being unidentified with the human experience means you can embrace fully all that comes along with being ‘an earthling’ and be totally available to life as it is
~ Christine Wushke

In the end, it’s all very simple. Either we give ourselves to Silence or we don’t.
~ Adyashanti

Mindfulness is the aware, balanced acceptance of the present experience. It isn't more complicated that that. It is opening to or receiving the present moment, pleasant or unpleasant, just as it is, without either clinging to it or rejecting it.
~ Sylvia Boorstein

Whatever comes, let it come, what stays let stay, what goes let go, always keep quiet, and always adore Self: This is the essence of living skillfully in the world appearance. During all activities of life always know that you are the Self. The way to live a happy beautiful life is to accept whatever comes and not care about what does not come.
~ Papaji

Be content with what you have; rejoice in the way things are. When you realize there is nothing lacking, the world belongs to you.
~ Lao Tsu

Observe your thoughts, don’t believe them.
~ Eckhart Tolle

Some believe in existence.
Others believe nothing exists.
Rare is the one who believes nothing
And is never confused.

~ Ashtavakra Gita

The soul in itself alone is not other than consciousness, which is all pervading. But when the same consciousness is caught in a limitation through being surrounded by elements, in that state of captivity, it is called soul. ... Every experience on the physical or astral plane is just a dream before the soul. It is ignorance when it takes this experience to be real. It does so because it cannot see itself; as the eye sees all things, but not itself. Therefore, the soul identifies itself with all things that it sees, and changes its own identity with the change of its constantly changing vision.
The soul has no birth, no death, no beginning, and no end. Sin cannot touch it, nor can virtue exalt it. Wisdom cannot open it up, nor can ignorance darken it. It has been always and always it will be. This is the very being of man, and all else is its cover, like a globe on the light. The soul's unfoldment comes from its own power, which ends in its breaking through the ties of the lower planes. It is free by nature, and looks for freedom during its captivity. All the holy beings of the world have become so by freeing the soul, its freedom being the only object there is in life
